Fishmas’ Christmas & ‘Bleu’ Debut
Roanoke Island

The sounds, smells and spirit of Christmas fill the air during the Aquarium’s Great White Fishmas Dec. 7 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Youngsters, Aquarium elves and Mrs. Claus are in residence, and youngsters play reindeer games, decorate cookies, make crafts and share Christmas wishes with Santa during a delightful evening of holiday fun. Guests may even catch a glimpse of Santa diving with the sharks and the fishes. Preregistration required.

Bleu is on view! After weeks of acclimating and training by the Aquarium’s husbandry staff, our new, rare and nearly all-white alligator is now comfy in his home in the Wetlands on the Edge exhibit. Don’t miss the opportunity to meet this unusual blue-eyed reptile as he settles in with tank mates in this popular exhibit!

The Aquarium’s Santa Paws Tree is now in its 12th year. Aquarium visitors have donated thousands of needed supplies to Outer Banks SPCA to help our four-legged friends. In return for seven pounds of dog or cat food, visitors receive free Aquarium admission. Other pet-friendly presents - from blankets and kitty litter to treats and toys - are also welcomed. Contributions can be dropped off at the Aquarium Dec. 1-22.

The Aquarium is closed Christmas Day so staff may enjoy time with their families. Standard operating hours of 9 a.m.-5 p.m. resume Dec. 26. The Aquarium is also open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on New Year’s Day.
