Fun Heats Up For Summer
Roanoke Island
Warmer days are just around the corner, and the Aquarium’s special activities educators are gearing up for summer programs. Wetlands Walk Exploration, Surf Fishing for Beginners, Kayaking, Catch a Crab and Nocturnal Beach Creatures are a few of the outdoor adventures on the calendar. You might even get wet! Closed-toe shoes and preregistration required for special activities programs.
The Aquarium’s new Sea Turtle Assistance and Rehabilitation Center (STAR) opens Saturday, May 24. The state-of-the-art center is a collaborative endeavor by the Aquarium and the Network for Endangered Sea Turtles (N.E.S.T.). The new facility triples efforts to successfully rehabilitate and return sea turtles to the ocean. Visitor observation of rehabilitation in action is included in the Aquarium admission fee.
Animated, life-size dinosaurs stalk the Aquarium’s Nature Trail this summer June through August in the new outdoor exhibit, Tyrannosaurs Trek. Giant tyrannosaurus rex, stegosaurus, triceratops, ankylosaurus, parasaurolophus, pteranodon and others peer at trail walkers from the coastal forest. Don’t miss this journey back in time – free with Aquarium admission.
