Banjos to Beach Music Family Night

Bluegrass, beach music and big sharks will mix for an evening of fun on Thursday, July 24.

The Banjos to Beach Music Family Night begins at 5 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m. Celebrate North Carolina’s diverse culture, nature and habitats from the mountains to the sea.

• Tap your foot to the Bridgewater Band’s Appalachian bluegrass music.
• Get in the swing of the official state dance as the Atlantic Beach Shag Club demonstrates classic shag dancing.
• Watch expert decoy carver Jerry Talton of Stella turn wood into waterfowl.
• Enjoy art from the earth as potter Jennifer Smith of Morehead City shows off pottery-throwing techniques.
• Get an up-close look at turtles that frequently visit North Carolina beaches in a sea turtle Creature Feature presentation.

Additional activities include an otter program, crafts, games and the Live Dive show.

Family Nights are offered each Thursday night in July. Themed Family Night activities begin at 5 p.m. The Aquarium’s daytime schedule of programs and activities will go on as usual.
